Coldplay have announced plans to play 10 dates across the UK.

The four-piece will perform a series of arena shows in December, taking in venues in Birmingham, Glasgow, Sheffield, Liverpool and Manchester before wrapping up in London.

Tickets for the gigs go on sale at 9.30am on Friday, 30 May.

The gigs come ahead of their forthcoming free shows in London, New York and Barcelona, which are to be held next month.

The band have also made the title track to their forthcoming album Viva La Vida or Death And All His Friends available to download.

The move comes after Coldplay recently allowed fans to download their first single Violet Hill, which received its world exclusive first play on Radio 1, for free.

Coldplay's UK tour dates are:

Birmingham NIA (1 & 2 December), Glasgow SECC (5 & 6), Sheffield Arena (7), Liverpool Echo Arena (10), Manchester MEN Arena (11 & 12), London O2 Arena (14 & 15)

Viva La Vida or Death And All His Friends is released on June 12.
