Lil Wayne Lil Wayne will release albums Tha Carter IV and Rebirth in December

A documentary which rapper Lil Wayne tried to block being distributed will now be officially released.

The Carter, a 90 minute behind-the-scenes film which follows the New Orleans rapper during the promotional and touring schedule around his 2008 album Tha Carter III, is coming out as a DVD on 17 November in the US.

Wayne, real name Dwayne Michael Carter Jr, had tried to stop The Carter being shown in cinemas back in April. He went to court in Los Angeles claiming the makers QD3 Entertainment had portrayed him in a 'negative light' but lost.

The film, which premiered at the Sundance film festival in January, is directed by Adam Bhala Lough. It prompted questions about Lil Wayne's consumption of cough syrup.

Gun charges

Last month the 27-year-old pleaded guilty to a charge of criminal possession of a weapon, he'll now be sentenced in February.

His sixth album Tha Carter III was the best selling album of the year in the US in 2008.

A pair of new albums from Lil Wayne, Rebirth and Tha Carter IV will be released on 15 December.
