He Pingping from China, the smallest person in the world, has finally met Sultan Kosen from Turkey, the tallest person in the world. Pingping stands at 2ft 5in (74cm) while Kosen towers far above him at 8ft 1in (246cm).

Baboons at Knowsley Safari Park in Merseyside hold hot potatoes to keep warm in the freezing weather. Keepers dished the treats out after struggling to get into work with many saying the snow is the worst the animals have experienced since the mid-1990s.
