The annual Black Entertainment Television (BET) Awards in LA turned into a Michael Jackson tribute concert on Sunday night with performances from some of rap and R&B's biggest names.
Michael Jackson's sister Janet made her first public appearance since her brother's death. She told the crowd: "To you, Michael is an icon; to us, Michael is family." Actor Jamie Foxx helped her on stage.
Michael's father Joe Jackson was also at the ceremony, although he didn't appear on stage: "I just wish he could be here to celebrate himself. Sadly, he's not here, so I'm here to celebrate for
him."
The show was hosted by Jamie Foxx, sporting a single white glove as a tribute to the singer, who died last Thursday. Foxx kicked off the show with a re-enactment of
Jackson's Beat It video.
Jamie Foxx then sang I'll Be There at the end of the show, which had many of the crowd in tears. He also wore the black leather outfit from the Billie Jean video and sang Lady In My Life with Ne-Yo.
Ciara was also dressed in a signature Jackson outfit complete with military epaulets on her shoulders. She performed Heal The World from Michael Jackson's 1991 album Dangerous.
Beyonce looked suitably angelic as she took to the stage to sing two tracks, Ave Maria and Angel. She picked up the best female R&B artist award: "This is for you, Michael Jackson. My hero."
Rapper Snoop Dogg appeared on stage with actor and singer Jamie Foxx and T-Pain to help them perform Blame It along with Blink-182 drummer, Travis Barker.
Lil Wayne performed at the show, and was also named best male hip-hop artist. He said: "We all know none of us in this room wouldn't be here for Michael Jackson."
Wyclef Jean was presented with a special humanitarian award for his charity work. He runs his own foundation to help people in Haiti. Alicia Keys was also recognised for her humanitarian work in Africa.
