Ugly Betty star up for SuBo cameo

Ugly Betty star Becki Newton says she would love to see Susan Boyle appear in an episode of the hit TV show.

Newton, who plays Amanda Tanen in the series, was commenting on rumours that the Britain's Got Talent runner-up could appear as herself in a future episode.

"I think she'd be amazing", said Newton. "I think Ugly Betty taps into pop culture so that these random characters become perfect for the show somehow."

"It might be a bit strange to have Susan Boyle on Ugly Betty, but they (the writers) have got such a great way of incorporating these people in a way that makes it really funny.

"I don't know what they would be, but I can imagine they have a lot of ideas."

The third series of the comedy will soon be hitting TV screens and Becki Newton said fans could look forward to other guest stars, including Lindsay Lohan.

However, the actress rubbished any talk about LiLo acting like a spoiled diva.

"She was lovely. When you watch this season she was great at her part. It was a fun storyline and I think people are gonna really enjoy it."

Becki Newton also said that the crazy goings-on in Betty's life would continue in the new episodes and revealed an interesting plot twist.

"Betty gets a new room-mate named Amanda. And Amanda doesn't like to wear clothes, especially when Betty's around.

"It's really, really funny and it's been my favourite turn of events for my character."

However, the 30-year-old actress said filming the scenes was a little bit awkward.

"Never as cool in reality as it seems in the show. A lot of carefully played duct tape. They have to put a microphone somewhere, so you can just imagine how fun that is!"

The new series of Ugly Betty starts on 24 June on Channel 4.
