Skins' Effy: 'I don't want to die'

Skins actresses Kaya Scodelario and Lisa Blackwell, otherwise known as Effy and best mate Pandora, were out for a girlie night at the launch of new play Spring Awakening. Newsbeat caught up with the pair to find out how the cast are getting on, why Effy should escape death and what people think of the new cast.

Kaya says she was nervous about how the new cast would get on

It's the last episode of Skins tonight (Thursday night) and you're not at home watching it?

Kaya: Well, I know I should have been but the boys are all together watching it and they left me out so I thought, 'I'm going to go out instead'. It'll be on again soon.

Do you often sit in and watch it?

Kaya: Yeah. I like watching it, it's cool.

Can you give any hints about the future of the show after this?

Kaya: I'm too scared to ask them if we're going to get replaced 'cos I don't want to know, so I actually haven't asked them at all about it.

Is there another series?

Kaya: Yes there is. It's been confirmed. We start shooting I think 13 July at the moment, so there is a new series. Skins is such a fun thing to shoot. We all love each other, I can't wait to go back to Bristol.

Have you got any idea what happens?

The girls from Skins get on well and try to keep in touch

Lisa: They won't tell us, because if they change the story we might get upset and be like, 'Why didn't you write that in?' So they just keep it all secret.

Kaya: I've made them promise not to kill me though, but who knows. I don't want to die.

Lisa: I'd quite like to die - go out with a boom!

In your five months off are you all going to hang out?

Kaya: We have been. We've spent a lot of time together. It was Luke's birthday the night his episode came up so me, Lily and Jack went up to Peterborough to watch it with him. We all keep in touch as much as we can and we've got five months in Bristol. There's a beach half an hour away.

Everyone was a bit worried with the new cast. Did it go as well as you wanted it to?

Kaya: It went a lot better than I expected. I was really nervous, meeting a whole group of people, not knowing if they'd like me, if they'd like working. But we've all got on so well and it's just been fun - actual fun.

What's the reaction to the show been like when you've been out and about?

Kaya: It's all positive so far. I haven't had any one being mean yet.

Lisa: I've had one person go, 'Skins is ****'. But I'm like, 'Who's the one watching it?'.

Kaya Scodelario and Lisa Blackwell were talking to Newsbeat entertainment reporter Frances Cronin.
