Oscar-winning Slumdog Millionaire director Danny Boyle has made a triumphant return to his home town in Greater Manchester to show off his iconic statuette at St Mary's Social Club in Radcliffe.
Boyle made the club famous by mentioning it in his Oscar acceptance speech and his family and friends gathered there to watch his film scoop a massive eight gongs, including best director.
Boyle's dad Frank used to run the club and is still a regular. The director used to visit with him when he was younger and drink lemonade. He's being considered for Freeman of the Borough of Bury.
