Myleene 'not upset by age comments'

Myleene Klass, 30, has defended herself against negative comments made about her new job on makeover show 10 Years Younger.

The current presenter, 37-year-old Nicky Hambleton-Jones, has been quoted as saying that being replaced by the former Hear'Say singer is a "slap in the face".

Makeover artists Trinny and Susannah have also told Newsbeat they were shocked bosses had picked a younger woman to front the show.

"The list is getting longer," said Myleene. "I thought it was just Nicky... I didn't know it was Trinny and Susannah too."

But the 30-year-old mum-of-one is brushing off the comments.

"I don't think this is a question of age. I think it's actually just a case of I was offered the job and it was a perfect opportunity to take it.

"I don't see the argument where someone was dropped because of age, if I'm completely honest."

The classical pianist said she wasn't hurt by what other presenters have said in the press because there are bigger issues at hand.

"It's like, 'Come on girls. Let's stick together'. There are enough people who want to bring us all down."

The popular makeover show has been renamed 10 Years Younger: The Challenge. And it's been given a new twist.

Myleene Klass, who appeared on I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!, told Newsbeat she'd had lots of fun making the series and had learnt a lot.

"What we've got now - rather than just one person turning up and it becoming pure surgery - it's almost like we have two girls.

"Not necessarily going head to head, but the challenge is who can knock off the most years.

And you've got one woman who will go the route of surgery and the other who will just try more homeopathic remedies - and it's incredible, the results."

Myleene also said she's not ruling out plastic surgery just yet, but would probably try homeopathic remedies before going under the knife.

"I saw one lady who literally, she just had a few facial treatments, a bit of acupuncture and she looked like she'd had a face lift.

"So, to me, I'm thinking I'd try that before I did anything drastic. But I'm a big old wuss really!"

10 Years Younger: The Challenge begins on Channel 4 at 8pm on 5 February.
