Socialite Paris Hilton is in London, filming her show Paris Hilton's British Best Friend. She spoke to Newsbeat about how she deals with the paparazzi, what she's looking for in a mate and explains exactly what went on when she met Prince William.
Is the battle to be your best friend starting to hot up?
We had so many people apply for the show, we picked 12 out of all those people. Every week I do eliminations and just count down until I get the number one person. We do competitions and different challenges and just figuring out who these people are.
What are the qualities that you're looking for?
I'm just looking for someone who wants to be my friend for the right reasons. Someone who's a good person, who can make me laugh, who's a lot of fun to hang around with. Just a true friend.
Do you think a TV show is the right place to attract genuine people because they might be looking for the limelight?
We say goodbye to those people, there have been some people like that on the show. I can read people very easily. A lot of those people have been watching me for years, have always wanted to meet me and are big fans. It's fun to meet them, hang out and get to know them.
Do you get followed around more by photographers in the UK or in America?
It happens everywhere I go but a lot in LA and especially a lot here. They're really crazy. They scratch up the car with the cameras and they go insane here so it's pretty scary sometimes.
Have you re-discovered your joy of partying while you've been filming in London?
Paris with her musician boyfriend Benji Madden
I haven't really been going out much. The only times I really went out is with the BBFs (British Best Friends) and taking them out for different challenges.
It's been for work but I don't go out as much as I used to because I'm in a relationship. When you have a boyfriend you don't want to go out as much as you do if you're single.
The big story in the papers is that you've been chatted up by Prince William.
I met them and they were really nice, really sweet down to earth boys. It was really nice to meet them. I think everyone knows I had a boyfriend.
Did you swap numbers?
People make up stories all the time. The papers make up so many stories. I read some story today that I was talking to Guy Ritchie about being in a Sherlock Holmes film. I was actually quoted as saying 'Guy wants me in the movie'.
I don't even know about a Sherlock Holmes movie. It's just funny how the papers out here just completely make up lies and stories and they'll put quotes and say that you said them. I don't really give quotes because I don't talk to anyone. I've just been shooting my show.
You've appeared in some election spoof videos - are you following the election?
This time I am. I think it's important because a lot of young people don't vote. I think by doing this it encourages people to vote and have a voice of their own.
Paris Hilton's British Best Friend airs in January on ITV2.
