Geraldine aims for the top spot

Geraldine McQueen, star of the spoof reality TV show Britain's Got the Pop Factor . . . And Possibly A New Celebrity Jesus Christ Soapstar Superstar Strictly On Ice has her sights on the Number One spot. She tells Chris Moyles about choking on glitter, being dubbed the "new Sonia" and her love for Pete Waterman.

Geraldine McQueen

Hi Geraldine, I watched the show last night how are you?

It was absolutely unbelievable and I can't believe I choked on glitter.

It was a very emotional moment wasn't it?

It was. Listen I have to keep quiet because there's a Filipino doctor here and I'm not supposed to be on my mobile. It turns the machines off.

All my lips have swollen up like Leslie Ash. I don't what's going on. I'm very worried. I was in A&E and then they put me in a side ward.

Nobody has been to see me yet. I've got Heat and Smash Hits coming in but nobody here.

I'm sure once the visiting hours kick in there'll be many people coming to see you won't there?

I hope so. But I don't think anybody knows where I am. Apparently when I collapsed they took me out of the studio with a blanket over my head. I don't even know where I am. I don't even know if I'm in England.

You choked on some glitter and R Wayne finished the song for you. The last thing we saw was Dr Fox trying to resuscitate you is that right?

He did and he should get a Pride Of Britain award for what he did to me.

I noticed that the girls from 2 Up 2 Down didn't rush to help me at all.

They didn't do a thing. They just sat there... I like to call them 2 Up 2 Face.

Were they not nice backstage?

"No. Every possible sad story happened. I hope they get clamped.

I did notice that Pete Waterman seemed to take a shine to you didn't he?

He's a lovely man. He really has some fantastic stories and he's just a lovely, lovely man. He compared my voice to Sonia. He's great and he discovered them all.

I think we're going to be seeing each other again. I hope so anyway.

Like Paul McCartney we have a special connection. But Pete's not on Facebook.

He doesn't like the internet and all that.

You've won the competition now. What's next?

Well I hope my lips will go down. Then I just want to bring a smile and say thank you to the people of Britain because these are hard times with all the banks going to hell.

I just want to know that I brought a smile and my life's not been in vain.

I just want to say to people turn on the radio and say, 'Turn that up that's Geraldine'. I'd like to follow in the footsteps of my dear friend (Fame Academy winners) Alex Parks and David Sneddon.
