High School Musical 3 premiere

Hundreds of fans, mainly girls, waited for hours at the premiere of High School Musical 3 in London to see their heroes. Most of them were there to see Zac Efron and his girlfriend Vanessa Hudgens.

Vanessa Hudgens has appeared in all three movies as Gabriella. She told Newsbeat they're sad this could be their final film together: "We've been through so much together. We've grown as people."

Zak Efron plays the part of Troy Bolton. He was loving the reaction from the crowd: "It's one of the coolest things we get to do, travel Europe and meet all our fans. It's amazing to see their reaction."

The film has already broken records for pre-sales on cinema tickets and it's not out until 22 October. Ashley Tisdale reprises her role as scheming Sharpay Evans from the East High School drama club.

Corbin Bleu plays Troy's best mate Chad. He said he was enjoying the fans' reaction too: "It's fantastic, an incredible welcome. I heard they were camping out since five this morning. It's a blessing."

British actress Jemma McKenzie-Brown, from BBC One drama The Amazing Mrs Pritchard, plays London transfer student Tiara Gold. She's a new character who plays Sharpay's assistant.
