The Pussycat Dolls say they "approve" of bandmate Nicole Scherzinger's new F1 boyfriend Lewis Hamilton.

The celebrity couple met at the MTV Europe Music Awards in November 2007 and have been an item since early this year.

Speaking to Newsbeat, Nicole said: "It's easy when people ask because I just say, 'Boyfriend? Doll Domination out 22 September'."

Kimberley Wyatt added: "We love him. We approve of Mr Lewis Hamilton."

Not giving too much away then, the Dolls are much keener to talk about their second album which is out next week.

It's been three years since their debut album PCD was released in the UK and spawned hit singles like Don't Cha, Buttons and Stickwitu.

The album sold over a million copies in the UK alone.

Melody Thornton, from the group, said: "Luckily for us, our first album was so successful and we had a nice, long run.

"So, we stayed on tour and we still perform the songs and people aren't tired of them."

NKOTB collaboration

The forthcoming 18-track Doll Domination features production and appearances from the likes of Timbaland, Dr Dre and Gnarls Barkley's Cee-lo Green.

The album has an extra track called Lights, Camera, Action which features New Kids On The Block.

The Dolls admitted it was a bit of a schoolgirl dream come true for them.

Scherzinger said: "We were playing around with it and it just worked out, we did a song on the New Kids On The Block album and now they've done one for us.

"They're part of the family and it's crazy because we've all been fans since we were really young."

Jessica Sutta added: "They came into rehearsals the other day, all of them and it felt like a seven-year-old fantasy of mine. That is, a fantasy when I was seven-years-old!"
