David Beckham wins the male athlete trophy at this year's Teen Choice awards in Los Angeles. Winners at the event, now in its 10th year, are chosen by millions of US teenagers voting online.
US series Gossip Girl was the big winner taking home six trophies. Chace Crawford (centre) plays Nate Archibald: "I feel like I'm still a teenager because I'm perpetually in high school. And I'm 23."
Rachel Bilson, who played Summer Roberts in the OC, won in the action adventure movie actress category for her film Jumper. It's about a man who can teleport wherever he wants.
Singer Chris Brown won four awards; Choice music male artist, R&B artist, R&B track for Forever and rap/hip-hop track for an appearance on Lil Mama's Shawty Get Loose. Rihanna also sang at the event.
Will Smith won two trophies for his latest movie, I Am Legend and one for Hancock. The actor and rapper bumped into High School Musical stars Vanessa Hudgens and Zac Efron on the red carpet outside.
Black Eyed Peas singer Fergie and actress Scarlett Johansson were there to hand out trophies. Johansson gave out the Do Something award to Chad Bullock, 19, for running anti-smoking campaigns.
Hayden Panettiere won the TV action/adventure actress trophy for her part as Claire Bennet in Heroes. Adam Sandler won the comedy award with Jonas Brothers voted top in the male hottie category.
Mariah Carey also performed at the ceremony along with Justin Timberlake, Kanye West and Lil Mama. Other winners included Brit Keira Knightley for Atonement and Johnny Depp for Sweeney Todd.
40-Year-Old Virgin star Steve Carell won best TV comedy actor for the American version of The Office. Everyone who won from film, TV, music, sports and fashion categories was given a surfboard.
Miley Cyrus, 15, hosted this year's Teen Choice awards and also picked up a trophy in the female music category and was picked as best TV comedy actress for her part in Disney's Hannah Montana.
