Meet the new Heroes characters

Series two of Heroes starts on BBC Two on 24 April. The action starts four months after Peter Petrelli went nuclear above New York City and Sylar was apparently killed.

New characters Maya (Dania Ramirez ) and Alejandro (Shalim Ortiz) join the action in episode one as a brother and sister on the run. They want to know why they have a deadly power.

Hiro (Masi Oka) meets his hero Kensei (David Anders) in 17th century Japan with love interest Yaeko (Eriko Tamura). Hiro is forced to stay in Japan for most of the start of the series.

Former Veronica Mars actress Kristen Bell plays Elle, the daughter of Company head Robert Bishop. She has the power to generate and manipulate electricity.

Stephen Tobolowsky plays Bob, the new boss of the Company. He can transmutate and create gold. He famously played the annoying Ned Ryerson in Groundhog Day.

Hayden Panettiere and Jack Coleman are back as cheerleader Claire Bennet and dad H.R.G (Horn Rimmed Glasses). His family are trying to live unnoticed in southern California.

Is he dead or isn't he? Sylar, played by Zachary Quinto, is stabbed by Hiro at the end of series one and disappears. He plays a serial killer who steals other superhumans' powers.

A newly bearded Nathan Petrelli (Adrian Pasdar) meets policeman Matt Parkman (Greg Grunberg) to talk about how thay're going to stop a new wave of killings.

Peter Petrelli (Milo Ventimiglia) explodes above New York in the final episode of the first series of Heroes. His burnt and charred body is caught by brother Nathan Petrelli.

Niki (Ali Larter) can rip people in half and has constantly struggled against her alter ego sister, Jessica. She and son Micah are back in Las Vegas but are preparing to leave.
