SNP manifesto: At-a-glance
The key points of the Scottish National Party's election campaign manifesto.

Health

  • Committed to ending the so-called 'postcode treatment' of patients within the National Health Service.

  • Supply free daily fruit for all children in primary schools, remove charges for dental check-ups and cut waiting times for inpatient treatment by half.

  • Employ 1,500 more nurses and secure free personal care for the elderly.

    Education

  • Reduce primary one, two and three class sizes to 18 and have a moratorium on further destabilising change until the establishment of an education convention.

  • End the publication of selective information and misleading league tables and introduce a major programme of school investment and repair.

    Crime

  • Employ 1,000 more police on Scotland's streets and encourage greater parental responsibility - with parents held responsible to victims of their children's crime.

  • Tough action on sex offenders and ensure that victims of crime should not become victims of the criminal justice system.

    Jobs

  • Build a modern transport and telecommunications infrastructure.

  • The complete abolition of tuition fees and an intensive campaign of selling Scotland to the world.

    Finance

  • 260m for health, education and crime.

  • A "Scottish fund for future generations to make the wealth of Scotland work for the people of Scotland."

  • A Scottish trust for public investment to invest more for less in schools, hospitals and transport.

  • Restore "honesty" to the tax system through a comprehensive review of taxation, immediate 10p a gallon fuel tax cut and a new 45p-tax band for those earning more than 100,000.
