Welcome to BBCe! This week it's time to blow out the candles: it's the birthday programme!

Happy birthday to all our listeners who have birthdays this month. (And don't forget BBCe! will be two on the 6th April so there will be more celebrations then!)

Cath talks to Karim about party language. On your birthday perhaps you're going to have a bit of a do. If you're leaving work then you'd probably have a leaving do.

A small informal party can be called a get-together, when a few friends get together to have fun. A ball is a very formal party with lots of people.

A bash is quite a humorous way to refer to a party: (such as the Oscars bash).
