The Moor Music festival is an intriguing alternative to other music festivals
Now in its fifth year, the Moor Music festival has a new home in North Yorkshire and is offering an eclectic range of music from Hip-Hop, dub and reggae, to folk, rock and blues and everything else in between. Event co-founder John Drysdale is passionate about that authentic festival feeling as he describes Moor Music festival: "We were really keen to recreate the intimate community atmosphere and vibe which is at the heart of budding festivals as that often gets lost when they grow. The people who come to our festival don't need to hark back to when festivals were fresh. Moor Music festival is the genuine article."

The festival prides itself on showcasing local talent as well as some big names from across the country. Local ales and a whole stage dedicated to music from the local area will be some of the highlights for the 2500 people lucky enough to have tickets. Local acts include DJs Paul Walker, Rudeboy Logic, and Freakin, while headliners include King Creosote, Utah Saints, hip-hop favourite Sway and BBC Introducing veteran Jamie Finlay. As well as the musical attractions Moor Music festival goers will also come across drumming, lantern making and animation workshops as well as a secret cinema, a cycle-powered disco and many other weird and wonderful areas and activities. Described as 'the mini Glastonbury of the north' by The Cool Camping Guide to Festivals, the Moor Music festival is an intriguing alternative to the more mainstream festivals that many believe have lost their charm to corporate sponsoring in recent years. The Moor Music festival takes place from 6 August to 9 August at Heslaker Farm near Skipton.
