CSV is the largest volunteering charity in the UK. At BBC Wiltshire we have our very own CSV West Outreach Manager - Camilla Bassett-Smith. CSV Media and the BBC are committed to providing community participation and involvement through inspiring people into action via programmes and outreach. We support and deliver campaigns working in partnership on BBC editorial aims, and with the voluntary sector. Recent examples of work undertaken include digital workshops for members of the Afro-Caribbean community supporting the BBC Digital Doctor's Campaign, renovation of a Swindon Scout base and a delivery of new and unwanted shoes taken by volunteers to homeless youngsters at a hostel in Moredon. Every October, CSV Make A Difference Day takes place: this is the UK's largest annual day of volunteering.

For Make A Difference Day in 2008, CSV at BBC Wiltshire arranged for around 300 daffodil bulbs to be planted by over 40 students and volunteers at St Joseph's Catholic College in Swindon. This year's Make A Difference Day takes place on 31st October with a theme of 'creating a wave of kindness' and will see many events take place throughout the West on the 31st and surrounding days. If you would like to get involved in volunteering events and would like more information on CSV Make a Difference Day, or are a charity looking for volunteers, please contact CSV at BBC Wiltshire on 0845 3000 789 or email our CSV Outreach Manager, Camilla Bassett-Smith:
