Place of birth

Describe yourself in three words.

Faffy, flamboyant and sensitive.

If you were making a time capsule what would you put in it?

My overused credit card as a warning to people in the future not to have one. I should have listened to my mother!

First record you bought?

I Hear You Knocking by Dave Edmunds.

Your first job?

Tea boy in a recording studio that made radio commercials.

Most interesting person you've interviewed?

The people with terminal illnesses whose attitudes are beyond amazing.

What couldn't you live without?

My digi box and laptop.

What did you want to be when you grew up?

A hovercraft pilot.

What keeps you awake at night?

Weird astrology.

Any bad habits?

Being neurotic, talking my doctor to death and prevaricating.

Proudest achievement?

My career - I've done quite well for someone so un-academic.

Your greatest regret?

Not being devil-may-care enough.

Happiest memories?

Being free and riding my bike down country lanes in the 1970s and being one of two people in a studio listening to the Bee Gees sing a cappella.
