Fancy doing something a bit different? The Juice festival in Newcastle and Gateshead runs until 8 November and has a range of events to choose from.

From free-running, to orange peel sculptures, pumpkin carving to comedy workshops, it's a quirky festival.

If you're feeling particularly brave, you can even get your hair cut by children from a local primary school!

The festival is for children and young people, but there are events for all the family.

We've selected some of the more unusual events, but for more information go to the NewcastleGateshead Juice Festival website.

Free-running

The founders of parkour (or free-running as it's more commonly known) Urban Playground and Gravity Style are giving workshops and performances on this bizarre craze that's taken the world by storm.

It's £5 to take part in workshops, and performances are suitable for all ages.

For more information go to the Urban Playground website.

Great Street Games

Fancy taking part in a virtual game outdoors, trying to use your own body as a player to beat other contestants in Sunderland and Middlesbrough?

Baltic Square in Gateshead will be transformed into an interactive playing arena where the physical movements of players will help determine the outcome of the game.

The games run in 10 minute cycles giving everyone the opportunity to take part.

The sessions run from 1030 until 1230, and 1330 until 1600 (GMT).

They are open to all ages and are free.

Haircuts by children

Children cutting hair
Would you get your hair cut by a child?

Children from Walkergate Primary School will be working with Canadian company Mammalian Diving Reflex and local stylists.

After their training will be offering free haircuts for the public at a hair salon in Newcastle City Centre.

A Juice spokesperson said: "Haircuts by children playfully engages with the empowerment of children, with trust in the younger generation, and with the thrills and chills of vanity."

They take place on 7 and 8 November.

For more information go to the NewcastleGateshead Juice Festival website.
