The Durham Police gun scandal

A former Durham policeman who admitted trading guns has told the BBC that he sold weapons openly in police stations.

Maurice Allen, who is no longer in the force, was given a suspended prison sentence.

A special BBC Inside Out programme reveals how customers regularly called in to police stations to buy unwanted weapons.

A judge last week branded Durham Police's procedures for firearms control as "lax and chaotic".
