Bands and musicians can submit one track for consideration
Six acts from north-east England have been shortlisted for a new project offering them the opportunity to have a song remixed by a top producer.
The winner will also work with an up-coming film-maker on a music video.
Called Sound and Vision, the scheme is being run by music development agency Generator and Northern Film and Media.
The shortlist is made up of Mammal Club, Viva City, Nadine Shah, Jimmy & the Sounds, The Hellfire Club and France & the Habsburgs.
After searching for a month, with over 90 submissions from musicians in the region, the six finalists and their tracks were selected by a panel of music industry experts. The songs are:
- Mammal Club - Put Your Fears In Order
- Viva City - Switch
- Nadine Shah - Aching Bones
- Jimmy & the Sounds - Sounds
- The Hellfire Club - Get Ready, Stay Ready
- France & the Habsburgs - Photographic Heart
Generator have added these tracks to their
where the public can now listen to them and vote for their favourite.
The chosen track will then be made available for any music producer in the region to remix.
Once the final track is remixed, the artist and remixer will work with an emerging film-maker, chosen by Northern Film and Media, to produce an industry standard music video.
One of the world's leading music film-makers- Dick Carruthers - will mentor the chosen film-maker throughout the process.
Dick Carruthers has directed and produced live concerts and DVDs for the likes of Oasis, Led Zeppelin, The Killers, Alicia Keys, The Who, Take That, The Rolling Stones and The White Stripes.
