Many Newcastle United fans do not have a bad word to say about former manager Chris Hughton. He was sacked on Monday, 6 December 2010.
Chris Hughton took over the reigns after Newcastle were relegated to the Championship. He led the team to a fantastic season which saw them remain unbeaten at home and lose just four times in the league.
This impressive record led to Hughton guiding the Magpies to the Championship title and back to the Premier League at the first attempt.
Chris Hughton was widely credited with installing a strong team spirit at Newcastle United. It is evident here as players celebrate scoring during their 6-0 thrashing of Aston Villa on 22 August 2010.
But that win over Aston Villa was followed by a disappointing home defeat to Blackpool. This loss brought their 24 home game unbeaten run to an end.

Tempers amongst Newcastle players flared during the 5-1 loss to Bolton on 20 November 2010. This was one of United's most disappointing results of the season which put pressure on Hughton. He would be sacked two games later.
Chris Hughton watching his side's 3-1 defeat to West Bromwich Albion on 5 December 2010. This would be his last game in charge, taking his record to 39 wins, 17 draws and 14 defeats.
