Following the success of 'Losing it with Lorna', February 2010 will see a brand new weight loss programme on The Lorna Milton in the Afternoon Show on BBC Three Counties Radio.

Losing it with Lorna for Life, will see men and women of all shapes, sizes and ages follow a constantly updated health, exercise and goal plan which has been put together by our Independent Health Advisor from Milton Keynes, Monika Akabusi.

Fit for life!

The aim of the plan is to prove that you do not need to join an expensive gym in order to lose weight and be fit for life.

Participants will be asked to follow the programme and work towards their own individual goal.

The health, exercise and goal plan is also available to download on this website.

Lorna will be introducing the listeners to her Losing it with Lorna for Life! team on air over the next few weeks, meet them here...

My reasons for taking part in Losing it with Lorna for Life are two-fold. When I was younger and slimmer I did a bit of modelling and really enjoyed it. As the pounds have gone on I've lost my confidence in this area and would love to get it back. I would like to represent the mature women of Beds, Herts and Bucks and model again. This would allow me to fit back into all the lovely clothes I have and be able to buy flattering new ones and recognise myself in the mirror from the neck down. I'd also like to be fit enough to play competitive sport again such as netball or basketball.

Although my goals are challenging and I know I'll have to work hard to achieve them, by the time I reach my target, I'll look and feel fantastic! The chances of me achieving my goal have never been higher.

I'm overweight because I eat when I'm bored but that will soon change. I suppose my biggest worry about the whole show is I may gain a few pounds and become despondent and want to throw in the towel, but I hope this won't be the case. I have decided that 2010 is the year I loose the weight otherwise I'll continue to delude myself into believing I'll start it next week, next month, next year and never commit to replacing my bad habits with positive new ones.

The reason I have signed up to Losing it with Lorna for Life is because I want to get my confidence back after gaining plenty of baby weight! In the past I have tried losing weight by joining all the well known diet groups but need the help and motivation to maintain my weight.

My goal that I have set myself to achieve on the Programme is to donate money to The British Heart Foundation for every pound I lose as it is a charity close to my heart since losing my father to a heart related illness.

At the moment the chances of me achieving my goal is very high, I know with the support from Lorna and and my family there will be no room for slacking or giving up! I'm overweight because I've definitely eaten for two in this pregnancy and haven't exercised at all!

My biggest worry about the whole show is getting weighed live on air! But I am looking forward to seeing the weight come off and having the support from the listeners as well as giving something back to my favourite charity. I'm so determined this is going to work.

In the past I have tried every diet under the sun. I am always on a diet! As soon as I loose a significant amount I relax and slowly put the weight back on. I am reasonably active but I like to reward myself with food. That is my Achilles heel!

My goal that I have set myself to achieve on the program is to fit into my gorgeous brown dress that I have brought many years ago and I never worn it! I also want to get my confidence back and maybe a mirror or two in my house? I am not a great mirror lover. I'm more than ever determined to lose weight and most importantly keep it off for life!

The reason I have signed up to Losing it with Lorna for Life is because I want a better quality of life for myself and my family. A life that I can see myself being part of in the future.

In the past I have tried losing weight by cutting out unhealthy foods but soon gave up.

My goal that I have set myself to achieve on the Losing it with Lorna Programme is to put money aside for every pound I lose so that I can take my wife on a romantic holiday to Paris as we have never left the UK and never even had a holiday by ourselves. I feel I owe something to my wife for being my best friend and constant companion for over 23 years now.

I think I'm overweight because over the last 15 years my job has involved sitting all day and very little exercise. My biggest worry about the whole show is how will I sound on the radio. Will my secret stutter be revealed. This will work for me. Full stop no other alternative.

The goal that I have set myself is to try and get down to at least 13 stone. In the process of doing so I will aim to complete a 5k run with my daughter and son, leading onto a 10k run. We will reward ourselves with a weekend away at a nice spa golfing hotel, where my daughter can have a few treatments and my son and I can play golf.

I am overweight for several reasons- I should eat smaller portions, drink less and exercise more, at present the only exercise I get is when I play golf.

My biggest worry is maintaining will power, I find it difficult to leave food if it is on my plate. I also worry about proper exercise, it has been some years since I have exercised outside of golf.

I have signed up to Losing it with Lorna for Life because I want a healthier lifestyle.

I have tried losing weight by trying different diets and cutting down on things but it just doesn't work.

The goal I have set myself is to get into a size 14 to 16 black, sexy dress and to turn my husband on! The chances I feel of me achieving this are 50:50. I am overweight because I pig out on rubbish food.

My worry about the show is doing the exercise but I will give it my all!

I have signed up to Losing it with Lorna for Life because I need help in achieving my goal.

I have put on around ten stones in weight over the past two years.

My goal is to be able to fit into an aeroplane seat and be able to put the table tray down in front of me, rather than my wife having to hold my dinner for me.

I have been on lots of diets and nothing works. I am overweight because I am a couch potato and get no exercise.

I am looking forward to losing weight and am determined to achieve my goal.

The reason I have signed up to Losing it with Lorna for Life is because I want to lose the spare tyre round my midriff! I am your typical 'middle aged spreader'.

Despite regular exercise via running and good eating I just can't shift the 'Michelin Man' look.

The goal I have set myself is to rediscover the abs or 'six pack' that I had in my twenties. At the moment I don't like going swimming with my kids or revealing my stomach on holiday. I want to go from lardcake to BEEFCAKE!!!

At the moment the chances of me achieving my goal are good because I have the the mental fortitude to do what I'm told and the determination to get where I want to be. My biggest worry about the whole show is nothing - nobody got nowhere by being worried and if I was worried about being on the show I wouldn't have applied in the first place!

I'm 38 years old and currently live in Flitwick, Bedfordshire.

I have two main reasons for signing up to Losing it with Lorna for Life , one being the spinal injury I have - extra weight really makes it painful. Secondly, the support will be invaluable.

In the past I have tried losing weight with Slimming World, and have succeeded, however the weight always seems to go back on again very quickly.

The goal that I have set myself on the Losing it with Lorna show is to get into a little black dress hanging in my wardrobe that I was wearing when I met my husband in 1995. The reason I have made this my goal is because I have been with my husband for 15 years this year, I would love to get back into the dress for our 16th anniversary in November.

At the moment the chances of me achieving my goal I feel are 50/50 as I believe my body has changed since having two children. I think I'm overweight because I don't eat enough during the day and snack at night. I don't have any worries about the show, I am really very excited!!!

I am 100% committed to this working for me and hope to make my family more healthy at the same time.

And making sure that the Losing it for Life! participants stick to their health plan will be....

Monika Akabusi has an extensive background in the Health and Fitness Industry. With her background in sports science Monika has moved from being 'hands on' as an instructor and Personal Trainer to becoming a well known expert in her field. She is now a director of 'WellnessRadar' and has made it her responsibility to promote health and wellbeing independently as a writer, publisher, presenter, advisor and corporate consultant.

Monika is known for 'calling a spade a spade', but behind that sometimes harsh exterior is a caring person who only wants to bring out the best in you!
