Women in Teesside took part in the event

International Womens Day - Transporter Bridge

To celebrate International Women's Day, some women in Teesside walked together across the Transporter Bridge.

They did it to symbolise their commitment to building bridges of peace and development for the future.

Spokesperson Shahda Khan said: "The Transporter is a powerful symbol for Teesside, but it is also a symbol that reminds us what we can achieve if we work together.

"One woman can change anything, but many women can change everything!"

The message of this year's campaign is 'Stronger women build bridges of peace', with the focus also on any women's rights issues affecting the local community.

Community cohesion officer Shahda Khan said: "This will be a truly global event, underlining the commitment of women everywhere to end conflict and poverty, and shape a better future for us all."
