See Boro's new home and away kits

Boro have gone for a cyan away kit after last season's blue and black shirt.

The 2009-10 home strip has a white sash on both sides of a red shirt plus the famous Adidas stripes down both shoulders, and the away strip features a cyan shirt, shorts and socks.

Terry Boland, Boro's Head of Retail, said: "We are sure fans will be delighted not only with the design but by the outstanding quality of the kit too."

BBC Tees' Ali Brownlee shares his thoughts on the new home kit:

"For any football fan the close season has, usually, two main highlights.

I do like the white shorts and white sock combination which brings back memories of Juninho in 1995-96

"First of all the fixtures for the new season are announced, as we saw with a healthy crowd for the Boro's Championship season opener at the Riverside where Gareth Southgate's side gained a goalless draw.

"The other key moment is when the new kit is unveiled and for Boro, beginning their new partnership with Adidas as their kit manufacturers, the home kit is a bold move away from previous designs.

"I do like the white shorts and white sock combination which brings back memories of Juninho in 1995-96 and I will certainly be modelling them at the first available opportunity for our five-a-side team, extra large of course!

"The shirt retains, essentially for any Boro fan, red as the dominant colour but I must admit to being a little disappointed that the white band is no longer a feature.

"True, the white band has not always been on a Boro shirt, it was introduced by Jack Charlton for the promotion winning team of 1973-74, and the Carling Cup winners of 2004 did not have a white band but I think it is part of what makes a Boro kit unique.

"Nevertheless, the new design is bright and will stand out when we lift the championship trophy next season!"

BBC Tees' Mark Drury gives his opinion on the new away kit:

"I think it looks good, really nice and simple and classy looking.

The new home keeper strip is fresh and black.

"It's very different to what we've had over the past few years and although some fans will be sad to see the blue and black stripes disappearing, I think this away strip could quickly become a fans favourite, particularly if Boro start scoring goals and winning in it!

"If they can give it a winning debut at our first away match I think everyone will be happy."

Your Comments:

Adrian Adamson "I'm not keen on the home shirt- looks a bit too similar to Charlton, Notts Forest or Bristol City for me. After all the hype last year of "bringing back the band" it is disappointing that this only lasted one year. The white chestband made the Boro shirt unique and instantly recognisable at a distance.

"I do like the away kit though, even if it does look a bit like Coventry or Man City."

George Scott: "I think the boro kits are great this season best they have ever looked cant wait for the rest of this season Come on boro!"
