See our area in a different light by taking part in a seven mile guided walk in Guisborough Forest and Walkway on Wednesday, 12 January 2011.

The walk starts from the visitor centre at in Pinchinthorpe and proceeds along the old railway line.

You will go up to Eston Nab where you'll see views of industrial Teesside to the North and the Cleveland Hills to the South.

The circular walk is free, and starts at 0930 GMT.

'We saw three roe deer'

Once you've made your way up Eston Nab, the route follows the ridge of the escarpment along to Ten Acre Bank and then drops down to Flatts Lane Woodland Country Park, returning through farmers' fields to the walkway, then back along to the visitors centre.

The walk will be led by two apprentices, Richard Dondalson and Jamie Bennison, who are both working towards their NVQ.

Neil Thirkell, the neighbourhood countryside warden, helped them check the route was safe, by doing the walk himself.

He said "It's a great route, we saw three roe deer and a green woodpecker.

"We also heard a greater spotted woodpecker drumming on a tree."
