It may be a quiet time on the music front at the moment, but if you know where to look, there's still stuff happening.
With this in mind, I caught up with Teesside band Our Secret Sins before their headlining set at new club night Dazed and Fuzed.
The band have just finished a live recording of their new album at the Georgian Theatre in Stockton.
If you recognise the name, it may be from seeing them live at the Stockton Riverside Fringe Festival 2009.
Our Secret Sins on stage at Dazed and Fuzed.
Did you enjoy playing Stockton Riverside Fringe Festival?
Sean: "We did, we had a few technical difficulties but we got there in the end!"
Richard: "Yeah, we had a hiccup but we pulled it off, just like we always do."
Good news! So can you describe your event at the Georgian?
Kev: "It wasn't as good as it could have been, we did drink a little bit too much... too much dutch courage!
"It was good fun, it was the longest set we had ever played.
"We have never played for an hour before, so we were playing some new songs that we had never played before, and it was good to know it was getting recorded.
"We'll just have to see how it turns out!"
How did you plan for it?
Kev: "We had to concentrate on how we played more than you do with a stage show. Which is quite hard.
"You want to go wild but you know you've got to concentrate."
Graham: "I personally enjoy playing the long ones, although other members don't, so we just played everything we have got."
If there is one thing you would like to tell your fans, what would it be?
Sean: "It's a secret we are called Our Secret Sins so we don't let that go!"
Graham: "How about... Shaun's the biggest sinner, and Mark combs his 'tash!"
Mark: "I don't comb it, I trim it!"
So with the interview out of the way, the band set up and played a set that got the audience dancing about.
It was a good set but it somewhat lacked that gritty appeal often associated with the bands' eclectic collision of synth, scratched guitar riffs, deluding vocals and strong drums rhythms.
