How your money helps Children in Need

Your donations help thousands of children each year

Organisations across Scotland are using grants from Children in Need to improve the lives of disadvantaged children and young people.

The 31st BBC Children in Need appeal will take place on Friday.

Children in Need raised more than £39m last year, of which £1.6m came from Scotland.

Money raised through donations is distributed to local charities and organisations in Tayside and Central Scotland.

Grants in Tayside and Central Scotland

Over the past year around £4.9m of BBC Children in Need Appeal money was distributed to organisations in Scotland .

Those grants include:

£61,620 to Youth Link Dundee to provide a befriending service to improve the social integration of young people living in challenging circumstances. (Dundee)

£6,000 to Starter Packs Angus which works to help children and young people affected by homelessness and those who are leaving care by providing bedding and cleaning items. (Angus)

£4,000 to Central Scotland African Union to improve the confidence and wellbeing of children of African origin living in the Forth Valley affected by discrimination and bullying by providing educational, cultural and recreational activities. (Stirling)

£3,000 to Perth and Kinross ADHD Support Group to provide emotional and practical support to young people who have ADHD or related disorders by helping them access various activities including the Duke of Edinburgh Award. (Perth)

£2,581 to Creche Matters! to improve the confidence, health and wellbeing of children and young people by providing an urban garden to teach them about healthy living and their environment. (Falkirk).

Each year, the Children in Need appeal culminates in an evening of events designed to raise funds for the charity.
