Sussex mead finds new fans

It was known as the drink of the Gods, but fell out of favour. Now mead is making a comeback in the south east.

Mead is the oldest alcoholic drink in the world.

Originally made with water, honey and yeast, it was traditionally consumed by the Greek Gods and thanks to its historic associations with fertility, it is where the term honeymoon comes from.

Alex Carr Taylor, who makes mead in Sussex, told Yvette Austin of BBC South East Today that he has seen sales "almost double" over the past six months.
