The MP for Surrey Heath has joined the debate on the future of the former St Gregory's School building in Camberley.
Building owners the Berkshire, Hampshire & Surrey Bengali Welfare Association have applied for consent to demolish it and build a purpose built mosque on the site.
Michael Gove, MP for Surrey Heath and Shadow Secretary of State for Children, Schools and Families has asked the Mosque Committee to withdraw their application.
He has said he does not believe it is in the best interest of community relations if the Association goes ahead with the application.
BBC Surrey's Nick Wallis asked Mr Gove what he thought would be gained by the mosque community if they withdrew the application.
And asked Mr Chowdhury, the project manager for the planned development, to reply to the MP's request.
