Hoe Valley environmental project gets underway

Flood defences and new wildlife habitat areas are being built in Surrey's Hoe Valley in Woking.

The Hoe Valley project would protect nearly 200 properties from flooding along with a further 60 gardens.

The Environment Agency and Woking Borough Council are joining forces in the £40m scheme to safeguard the houses which were built on a flood plain.

But some locals are worried about the number of trees being felled at Woking Park as part of flood protection work.
