Katharine House provides free hospice care services for people faced with an illness that cannot be cured

It's ten years since the Inpatient Unit at Katharine House Hospice in Stafford opened to the public in 2000.

The hospice provides overnight care for patients with life limiting or progressive illnesses such as cancer and multiple sclerosis.

Situated in the grounds of Stafford General, it also arranges support and accommodation for their families too.

The unit was built using money mainly raised by people living in the town.

All services are free of charge but they rely heavily on donations as it costs around £2.3m a year to run.

BBC Radio Stoke reporter Chris King was invited on a tour of the place from the one of its nurses, Angela Marston.

If you'd like know more about the hospice, you can visit the Katharine House Hospice website .

And if you want to help them celebrate this anniversary, they'll be holding a big party in Victoria Park in Stafford on Sunday, 19 September.
