BBC Midlands Today reporter Andy Newman joined the stargazers at Keele
Stargazing Live was a BBC project which aimed to help people learn about and enjoy the night sky.
Hosted by Professor Brian Cox and comedian Dara O Briain, the TV programme was based at the nearby Jodrell Bank in Cheshire.
It took place in early January 2010 and was timed to coincide with a number of major astronomical events including a display of shooting stars and a partial eclipse of the sun.
Astronomy experts also arranged local events around the country. Keele University hosted a series of talks at their observatory in Staffordshire.
