The art of making an artistic statement from an old record sleeve

Who knew old record sleeves could become works of art?

During half term the National Waterfront Museum in Swansea is hosting a series of so-called Sleeveface workshops.

Sleeveface is the art of holding a record sleeve in front of your face and striking a pose to create an image - be it funny, original or artistic.

The Sleeveface workshop will be a chance to have fun while indulging your artistic side.

...a unique opportunity to enjoy some old vinyl favourites in a brand new way.

You can learn more about the origins of Sleeveface and even make your own masterpiece in the galleries with an official photographer.

The vinyl art will run until 30 October from 11am until 4pm.

The museum's events officer Delyth Thomas said, "This is your chance to join in the fun and take a unique opportunity to enjoy some old vinyl favourites in a brand new way.

"There will be lots of records available to view and use. If you have an image in mind or a scene you would like to create, bring along your treasured ditties and the experts will help make your vinyl vision a reality."

And, from Thursday 29 to Saturday 31 October, the museum will be hosting Songs from the Waterfront, an event especially organised to celebrate the Dylan Thomas Fringe Festival.

The lunchtime poetry and song sessions will take place at 12.30pm.

Also to mark the festival, a CD/Record and Book Fair offering music and literature will take place this weekend (Saturday 31 Oct-Sunday 1 Nov) and next (Saturday 7-Sunday 8 Nov).
