Terry O'Neill image of Richard Burton taken on the set of Staircase in 1969
One of Britain's most famous photographers is exhibiting some of his celebrity pictures, including one of Richard Burton. Terry O'Neill, now aged 71, is well known for the access he gained to the stars and the quality of his photography. Now a collection of images, some of which have not been seen previously, are being displayed in London. They emerged during an overhaul of his archive over the past year. He photographed Richard Burton on the set of a film called Staircase, which was filmed in France. Elizabeth Taylor was acting in The Only Game in Town at the same time, and is said to have been instrumental in getting the film location moved to France so that she could be closer to her then husband. Other photographs in the exhibition at the Chris Beetles Gallery include Michael Caine posing with his 'Get Carter' shotgun, Muhammad Ali preparing himself for a fight and Audrey Hepburn frolicking by a pool with Albert Finney during the filming of 'Two For The Road', 1967. The exhibition opens on Wednesday, 17 February and continues until Saturday, 6 March 2010.
