Between a rock and a hard place

The exhibition, Between a Rock and a Hard Place, by Tim Davies, at the Glynn Vivian Art Gallery, Swansea, includes a series called Bridges (2009), in which found postcards of these structures were sanded down.

By removing all traces of the background leaving only the structures themselves the work is intended to bring to our attention their real and symbolic meanings.

The artist Tim Davies lives and works in Swansea. He has won the Mostyn Open Prize, the National Eisteddfod Fine Art Gold Medal and was short-listed for the Artes Mundi prize. The exhibition runs until 6 December 2009.
