The man who gave The Police their first gig in Newport and was friends with Joe Strummer is writing a book about his adventures with rock stars.
Jonny Perkins told Louise Elliott of BBC Radio Wales how he started promoting bands such as Budgie in the late 1960s before staging the first punk gigs in Newport in the 1970s.
One gig featured American punk singer Cherry Vanilla who brought along The Police as her backing band.
He also became friends with Clash frontman Joe Strummer, who lived in Newport and hung out with the art school crowd in his pre-fame days.
He's appealing for people he's worked with to contact him via his In It 4 The Crack website to contribute stories and memories for a book of the same name.
