Mott the Hoople film could prompt reunion gigs

Mott the Hoople keyboard player Verden Allen says the 70s glam rock stars could reunite for further gigs following the release of a documentary of their career.

Verden, born in Neath and now living in Usk, told Alan Thompson of BBC Radio Wales that completion and release of the film - The Ballad of Mott the Hoople - had been delayed due to their decision to reunite in 2009 to play their first gigs for 36 years.

The reunion - agreed in a meeting at a pub in Usk - began with a warm-up concert at the Blake Theatre in Monmouth before a string of dates at the Hammersmith Apollo in London.

Verden revealed that the band turned down the chance to play at a number of festivals in 2010, but added that more reunion gigs could be on the cards.
