Cardiff band in download debate
Future Of The Left
Lead singer Andy Falkous wrote an impassioned plea on Myspace to stop illegal file sharing

Cardiff indie band Future Of The Left have become the latest weapon in the fight against file-sharing and illegal downloads.

The band posted an internet blog entry on their Myspace page back in April, following the leaking of their second album, Travels With Myself And Another.

Written by lead singer Andy Falkous, the blog was picked up by the UK Music organisation and appeared, in full, in the Guardian last week.

Adam Webb, a spokesman for UK Music, said: "We picked up on the blog a while back, following an interview Andy gave to Drowned In Sound earlier this year.

"More than anything, it's a genuine, intelligent and fantastic piece of writing.

"The issues surrounding file-sharing and copyright can become hugely complex and much of the positioning around them has become polarised and entrenched. Andy's blog cuts through all that."

Future Of The Left are signed to legendary 4AD record label and are popular in Japan and Europe.

Lead singer Falkous wrote on the blog entry: "Please be careful, or we'll get the world we all deserve.

"Hobby bands who can tour once every few years if they're lucky ... some of us, in all honesty, just want to make the music we love and play it around the world without living in poverty."
