Medieval manor open to visitors
Old Beaupré Castle
The castle near St Hilary dates from the 14th Century

Old Beaupré Castle in the Vale of Glamorgan has reopened after structural and conservation works.

The medieval manor house castle opened its doors again on Friday 22 May ready to welcome visitors.

The castle near St Hilary dates from the 14th Century and was modified during the Tudor period, including a magnificently carved Renaissance porch.

The repair work has been carried out by Cadw, the Welsh Assembly Government's historic environment service.

Mial Watkins, Cadw's Principal Architect, said: "Essential works have been required to keep this magnificent manor house in a good state of repair.

"I'm delighted that the work has now finished and I'd like to thank the public for their patience and understanding while the work has been carried out."
