Carwyn Evans' work appeared on the cover of No Room to Live by Wynford Ellis Owen
Several leading artists from Wales have contributed work to an exhibition on the theme of addiction unveiled at the Senedd in Cardiff Bay on Tuesday.
Dibyniaeth - Addiction - includes work by Iwan Bala, Ogwyn Davies, Elfyn Lewis, Carwyn Evans and Kathy Williams.
Most of the artworks have been created specially for the exhibition using the theme of addiction in the widest sense.
Proceeds from their sale will be donated to a day care centre dealing with drug and alcohol problems.
The Living Room Cardiff Project, due to open in June 2011, is a free, bilingual day-care centre that will offer treatment to anyone experiencing difficulties relating to alcohol, drugs - prescribed or illicit - or any other dependency.
Ingrid Pett's poem inspired the work by Ogwyn Davies
Ingrid Pett composed a poem which was subsequently taken up by Ogwyn Davies as the inspiration for his particular piece.
"I would never have though in a million years that something I had written would eventually end up as a piece of art on display in the Senedd," said Ingrid.
"It is quite something and has given me an incredible sense of achievement.
"I hope my experience will inspire others looking for a way out of their addictions. There is light at the end of the tunnel."
Wynford Ellis Owen, chief executive of event sponsors, the Welsh Council on Alcohol and Other Drugs, said: "I am very grateful for the support I have been given by these fantastic artists.
Wynford Ellis Owen wrote a book about his own experiences of addiction
"I have been looking for a long time for a creative way to get the message of what addiction means and what it can do to people.
"I hope this exhibition will get people thinking and Ingrid's example is testament to what is possible with positive thinking and the right type of support."
A well-known Welsh language actor and TV presenter, Wynford is the author of No Room to Live.
The book - which details his own experiences with addiction - is being sold to raise funds for the Living Room Cardiff project.
The exhibition will be on show at the Senedd until Thursday before embarking on a tour of other venues in Wales in January and February 2011.
