Six Bells: Poem by Gillian Clarke

The national poet of Wales commemorates the fiftieth anniversary of a mining disaster near Abertillery.

Forty five men died when a gas explosion ripped through the Six Bells colliery on 28 June 1960.

Gillian Clarke told Roy Noble of BBC Radio Wales how she remembered the disaster and how it resonated with those living in mining communities across south Wales.
