Artist inspired by Antarctic trip

Cardiff based landscape artist Rowan Huntley has recently returned from Antarctica where she was the first ever artist in residence aboard a Royal Navy survey vessel, HMS Scott.

Rowan spent five weeks on board HMS Scott, named after the captain who famously sailed to the Antarctic from Cardiff a century ago in 1910.

She told Mal Pope and Louise Elliott of BBC Radio Wales that she wanted to raise awareness of endangered habitats and create material for her new exhibition.

An exhibition of Rowan's work from Antarctica can be seen in June at the Senedd in Cardiff Bay and also on board HMS Scott in June when it visits the city as part of the Scott centenary celebrations.
