Fibre Art Wales: Journeys

An exhibition of contemporary art made from various materials is on show at Rhondda Heritage Park. Optic Vision by Laura Thomas from Roath, Cardiff, is an exploration into colour theory and optical illusions. Hand woven leno fabric in acrylic resin.

Broody Girls by Alison Mercer from Llanberis, Gwynedd, in calico, blackwork, glass and bead: "When I am making objects I am absorbed in the activity, working intuitively and guided by the thoughts and revelations that stitching uncovers."

Urban Landscape by Bethan Ash from Cyncoed, Cardiff - an art quilt cotton collage installation reflecting a recent house move from the inner city to the "blissful calm" of suburbia.

Cross Pollination by Michelle Griffiths from Bridgend - silk fabric and Japanese toothpicks inspired by the Kumo Shibori (Spiderweb) pattern of the Arimatsu artisans.

Making Tracks by Ruth Harries from Adamsdown, Cardiff, using a blackboard, chalk and felt: "I am developing the idea of making tracks in learning the Welsh language and considering its use through the generations of my family."

Around the Block I by Helen Foroughi from Swansea - lino printed linen warp with mixed yarns including cotton, wool and lurex. The exhibition can be seen at Rhondda Heritage Park until 8 November. See www.fibreartwales.org.uk for details.
