Presenter Profile: Emma Britton

Emma Britton

My BBC Somerset experience started back in February 2003 when I was invited onto The Morning Show to talk about my work as a larger-size fitness instructor in Somerset. After the interview, they asked me two questions:

Can you come back every week?

Do you mind if we call you Extra-Large Emma?

I was happy on both counts and that started a four-year weekly stint as the station's resident fitness instructor with a difference - Extra-Large Emma! I loved being called Extra-Large Emma as it was exactly what I was, and the name has stuck ever since.

I was a regular contributor at the station and developed an interest in working on the radio. Now that that has turned into a full-time job, I have a rival for my passion for exercise - my passion for radio.

So I work full-time at the station now presenting The Morning Show, and in the evenings I am still Extra-Large Emma and teach exercise classes in the community for all shapes and sizes - the best of both worlds.

The Morning Show is all about the interesting people and places of Somerset and I especially love it when we take the programme out on the BBC Somerset Bus! So make sure if you see the bus out and about around the county that you come onboard and say hello!

Finally a few interesting(?) facts about me:

- I love chocolate

- I live in Bridgwater with my partner John

- I am passionate about Carnival

- I am what many people describe as "bubbly" which generally translates as fat and happy!

- Oh - and did I mention I LOVE chocolate???
