In pictures: Air day preview
One hundred years of aviation is being marked this year at the RNAS Yeovilton Air Day.
There will be about 100 flying and another 100 static aircraft on display.
The Black Cats, the Royal Navy Helicopter Display Team, will be there showcasing their daredevil tricks.
Other display teams such as The Red Arrows, Italy's Frecce Tricolori and the Royal Jordanian Falcons, will be there.
Commodore Chris Palmer said the air day was very important to celebrate 100 years and that it was great that people can get so close to the aircraft.
RNAS Yeovilton Air Day 2009 takes place on Saturday 11 July.
As well as the aircraft which is used in modern-day warfare, heritage aircraft such as Skyraider and Harrier planes will be there.
Up to 36,000 people are expected to turn up, an increase of 6,000 on previous air days.
Matthew Whitfield, fighter pilot for the Royal Navy, said he was looking forward to meeting children and perhaps inspiring them to become tomorrow's pilots.
The impressive Vulcan plane is expected to be there, some 17 years after its last appearance at the air day.
Visitors have been advised to use ear plugs. On the ground, the Royal Marines Band and the Royal Marine Commandos will be performing and there will be a Field Gun competition.
Locally made aircraft, Westland Sea King and Westland Lynx will feature alongside international aircraft.
