Cathedral to host hospice party
Wells Cathedral
A cream team held after the service aims to raise funds

Wells Cathedral is to host a special thanksgiving service marking Weston Hospicecare's 20th anniversary.

The event, on 24 October, will celebrate the charity's history of providing palliative care to people with life-limiting illnesses.

A hymn which has been specially written for the event will be performed.

Fundraiser Sue Sweet said it was the first time they have had a cathedral service and that the service was intended to be uplifting and informal.

"We are also hoping people will join us for a cream tea immediately after and there will be a voluntary contribution to help us raise some vital funds for the hospice," she said.

The service, which is free to attend, starts at 2pm and is followed by a ticket-only cream tea, which will help to raise vital funds for the hospice.

For ticket information for the cream tea, which starts at 4.30pm following the service, call 01934 423 922 or visit the hospicecare's website.
