Walkway gets aerosol art makeover
Underpass wall
The project cost £3,000 and took just over a month

Young people in Bishops Lydeard have given an bland underpass a makeover thanks to a community project.

In recent years, the underpass has been covered with graffiti and anti-social behaviour, leaving a "less than attractive first impression."

The underpass is the first thing people see when entering the village from West Somerset Railway.

Over the last month, a group of young people have taken part in an art project to spruce up the walkway.

Professional artist Sam Gaden helped teach techniques

Police community support officer Sue Thompson raised £3,000 for the project which saw aerosol artist Sam Gaden show the young people aerosol artwork techniques, design and expression.

Ms Thompson said: "Lots of very positive comments are coming back to me from all members of the community.

"The young people feel a real sense of pride in what they have achieved, they have worked very hard together, helped each other, and they will be expected to look after it."
