BBC Shropshire carol service at St Laurence's in Ludlow

BBC Shropshire's 2009 carol service was recorded at St Laurence's Church in Ludlow on Sunday 6 December.

The service was broadcast on 20 December and will be repeated at 1pm on Christmas Day.

About 600 people came along to Ludlow to join the congregation at St Laurence's.

Director of Music Shaun Ward led St Laurence's impressive choir, including soloists Matthew Elliot, Alisdair Newman-Kidd and Gemma Busfield.

The service was led by Reverend James Stewart, and new Bishop of Ludlow the Right Reverend Alistair Magowan lent his voice to the carols, as well as providing the blessing.

Accompanying the singing and playing Johannn Sebastian Bach's In Dulci Jubilo was organist Roger Judd.

BBC Radio Shropshire presenters Eric Smith, Mike George and Jim Hawkins all presented readings as part of the service.
